Kid Mode features free educational, age appropriate software for children age 1 to 8 years old. The software while designed for children allows full parental control of the available materials.
If my experience with friends and co-workers are any indication, parents frequently hand over their smartphones to their children to keep them entertained. I ‘m not sure I would be willing to handover an expensive device to a toddler but if you do, you might want to consider Kid Mode by Zoodles.
Kid Mode is available for Chrome, Mac and Windows PCs as well as Android and iOS phones and tablets.
To get started you have to create an account @ Zoodles . Once you log in you add the child’s first name and age so that the software choices will be age appropriate, you can optionally add a photo. You can add more than one child to your account, which simplifies the management of the software. Each child will have their own area within the Kid Mode application called playgrounds, that is tailored for that child’s age group.
Parents can also optionally enable a home screen lock feature available in the settings to keep kids from wandering past the main application screen into other areas parents don’t want to provide access to. The latest version of the Kid Mode for Android also allows you to add other native Android apps like “Angry Birds” to Kid Mode.

I don’t have a youngster in my home to test drive the software but the Kid Mode Android Market page boasts over 1 million installs. Kid Mode has an average of a 4.75 rating out of a possible 5 stars.
