The new Macbook Air is an example of Industrial design that is both practical and beautiful. I’ve been a fan of the design aesthetic since the “Air” line launched in 2008. As much as I liked the design, Apples Mac book Air line has always been underpowered and overpriced, more of a status symbol than a practical computer, until now.

The new Macbook Airs feature the latest Intel Sandy-Bridge processors that are both fast and energy efficient. All but the base model Air include 4 GB of Ram, at least 128 GB SSD (solid state flash storage), a thunderbolt (high speed I/O) port, a backlit keyboard and the new Max OS X Lion (10.7).

The Macbook Airs come in four basic configurations with upgrade options available for all models. The Macbook Airs start at $999 for the 11” to $1,699 for the top of the line 13” Model.

The latest version of the Mac desktop OS X Lion is installed on the new Airs, touting some 250 new features. Some of the key features include a Mac App Store, Multi-Touch gestures, Full-Screen Applications, Launchpad and Mission Control, a custom dashboard.

by George Heymann

techeadlines@gmail.com

PadPivot is a lap and desk stand for your tablet, smartphone or e-reader. What separates the PadPivot from many other stands is its compact size and flexibility. When fully extended the PadPivot is approximately 4”x4″  square.

The PadPivot can accommodate practically any size e-reader, smartphone, or tablet depending on how you “pivot” the top support plate on the stand.

Rearth Ringke smartphone protection and style on a budget

by George Heymann

techeadlines@gmail.com

Rearth manufacturers a variety of protective cases for a wide range of devices from laptops and smartphones to a variety of MP3 players. The Rearth case that I’m reviewing today is the Ringke which is a high polymer case incorporating a 3 layer design.

The design consists of a silicon layer, an etching layer and a high polymer layer. The hybrid case provides the soft touch properties of a silicon case, with the smoothness and dust resistance of a hard rubber case while retaining much of its flexibility.

by George Heymann

There is a lot to like about Dell’s 7-inch WiFi Android tablet. The Dell Streak 7 is a good performer: it packs an Nvidia Tegra 2 processor and 16 GB of Internal Storage with support for up 32GB of additional storage via its memory card slot. It also features 5MP rear camera with flash as well as a 1.3 MP front-facing camera for video chatting. The tablet also includes Wifi 802.11 b/g/n and supports Bluetooth 2.1. T-Mobile LG G2X Review

by George Heymann

techeadlines@gmail.com

The T-Mobile LG G2x is my first LG phone of any type, Smart or other wise. It’s the first dual-core phone offering available for T-Mobile’s USA Network. Even though it’s my first LG phone, my previous experience with the company’s other products was favorable, making the decision to purchase the G2X an easy one given the phones other great features.

Review: SPB Shell 3D home screen replacement for Android

by George Heymann

techeadlines@gmail.com

SPB Shell 3D is based on the SPB Mobile Shell product line for Windows Mobile and Symbian.

My first impression of the interface is that it’s very fluid and intuitive. I was able to navigate the interface add apps, widgets as well as adding, deleting and re-ordering screens within the first few minutes of use. The UI is beautiful to look at and has a visceral quality that makes it hard to put down.

Roku XD/S Good things still come in small packages!

by George Heymann

techeadlines@gmail.com

I want to share my first impressions of my recently purchased Roku XD/S HD streaming video player. There is a lot to like about this very affordable sub $100 set-top box. The first thing you’ll notice about the Roku is its diminutive size. The unit measures a mere 1 inch tall by less than 5 inches wide and is very light weight.

The latest iteration of the Apple tablet, the iPad2, is the natural successor to the original iPad.
