Microsoft today previewed the next major release of Windows Phone, code-named “Mango”, through a series of media events around the world. “Mango” will deliver more than 500 new features to push the boundaries of the smartphone experience around communications, apps and the Internet.

Nodo WP7 pre-update finally rolling out to T-Mobile HTC HD7

After several rumors and a couple of false starts the January, February, early March, WP7 “Nodo” pre-update has started rolling out to the T-Mobile HTC HD7. No word yet on when we will see the actual update for the Phone. Microsoft has botched these updates for WP7 to the point that I can no longer recommend the platform to readers.

Nook for Android V2.3 and Nook Reader V1.5 update coming soon!

Nook has announced a pair of software updates coming in the near future. The first update expected later this week for the Android app to v2.3 will include several user-requested features.

The recently held Microsoft Windows Phone 7 event saw company officials announce the first 10 handsets to support the platform. Handsets are coming soon from launch partners Samsung, LG, HTC and Dell.

Waze is cross-platform compatible offering free mobile apps for iPhone, Android, Windows Mobile, Symbian and Blackberry.

Faster=Better, Google Voice=Better, Make outgoing calls faster with “direct access numbers”!

Google launched an enhancement to the Android and Blackberry Google Voice App yesterday that speeds up the call connections using “Direct Access Numbers”. Prior to this update the Google Voice app had to make a request to the Google Voice server everytime a call was placed to send the number you wanted to dial.

Mobile OS Roundup!


Regardless of your mobile preference 2010 is going to be a very good year!  Most platforms are planning to release major OS updates sometime this year.

Keep in mind that this is not a comprehensive list of features but a summary of key changes or enhancements planned for each platform. In many cases this is pre-release information so the features are subject to change or may not be included in the final release software.

Must have mobile apps list!

With the iPhone app store heading towards the 200,000 application mark and other platforms with thousands of applications to choose from do you find yourself suffering from application overload? Most phones come with a basic set of applications to handle day to day tasks. Outside of the phone application itself starter apps usually include a contact manager, email program, messaging application, maps and calender.
