Want to check out that new flick or the latest video game? Besides a trip to the theater, watching movies available from your local cable/satellite provider or buying the latest hot video game, there are number of good options to consider.

Netflix offers a mail subscription DVD and Blu-ray disc rental service as well as video streaming via the Internet.

Netflix streaming options are numerous: the firm supports computers, all of the major mobile platforms including Android and iOS, a variety of game consoles, practically all of the dedicated streaming devices as well as many popular Blu-ray players and TVs.

Shipments of Internet-enabled consumer devices to exceed PCs in 2013

In another sign of the Internet’s transformative impact on the electronics industry, shipments of Internet-enabled consumer electronics devices will soar to exceed those of the traditional platform used for accessing the Internet — the PC — for the first time in 2013, according to a new IHS iSuppli Consumer Platforms Report from information and analysis provider IHS.

Shipments of Internet-enabled consumer electronics devices, a category including a wide range of products—from televisions to video game consoles, to Blu-ray players—will surge to 503.6 million units in 2013, up from 161 million in 2010. In comparison, PC shipments during the same period will amount to 433.7 million, up from 345.4 million.

Will video on demand services like Netflix make DVDs a thing of the past?

A newly-released SNL Kagan study, The Economics of TV and Film, reveals that 2010 was similar to 2009 in that the domestic box office hit a record high, once again, while the domestic video retail market was continuing its steady decline. Consumers are now opting to sign up for streaming and/or rental services, like Netflix. They are using video on demand (VOD) services more and more, as they discover these services can be cost effective.

The official Android redbox app is now available in the Android Market. The redbox app lets you browse and reserve movies, plus find the nearest redbox kiosk with maps from wherever you are. You can see what movies are available, including specific movies at selected kiosks. That way, you will know what is available where at any given time.

Tegra Product 2011 Roadmap leaked, indicates quad-core chips by fall of 2011

Nvidia’s 2011 Tegra roadmap has been leaked ahead of a formal announcement by Nvidia at Mobile World Congress. Two very interesting revelations are a 1.2 ghz dual-core A9 processor capable of powering a 3D display scheduled for 1st quarter release and Tegra 3, quad-core A9 processor, supporting Blue-ray video with a 1920×1200 display slated for the 4th quarter.
