Temple Run to land on Android, Instagram coming to WP7? Motorola will perform live magic show to highlight RAZR MAXX battery life

The hit iOS game, Temple Run will be making its way to Android this year, says creator, Imangi Studios. The game developers took to their Facebook page  posting a simple status saying, “On a (Samsung) Galaxy not-so-far away. Temple Run Android coming February 2012. We’re so excited to announce this and appreciate all of our fans’ support across both platforms!” The post has accumulated over 1,000 comments and over 6,000 likes showing that Android users are more then ready for Temple Run to make the jump. Temple Run will be debuting in the Android market in February. Now all we need is for Instagram to reveal a set date to join the Android Market and we will be set for the year.

Bil Simser has been working on an unofficial  Instagram program for Windows Phone, titled Metrogram. If you do not know, Instagram is a popular photo app exclusively for the iOS (iPhone, iPod, iPad, etc) that allows you to take pictures and add filters to them. You can then share them with your Instagram followers as well as upload them to Twitter or Facebook. It is unknown if Instagram will accept the development of the Windows Phone app as Bil Simser’s Metrogram program is an unofficial version of the original Instagram application.

Moneto prepaid NFC mobile wallet service compatible with Android and iPhone

Yesterday DeviceFidelity, Inc and Spring Card Systems LLC, announced Moneto a prepaid mobile wallet service utilizing Near Field Communications (NFC) in conjunction with MasterCard PayPass technology.

The innovative service enables NFC on previously incompatible smartphones by utilizing a custom Moneto microSD card for Android and a custom case for iPhone.

According to its press release “Users can fund their Moneto prepaid account through direct deposit, ACH transfer or cash/credit/debit card-enabled third-party money transfer services such as MoneyGram, Western Union, PayPal or GreenDot.

Moneto also comes with a companion prepaid MasterCard to give users the ability to access cash at ATMs and make online purchases, pay bills or shop at merchants that do not accept contactless payments. Moneto also enables card-to-card and wire-fund transfers from a secure internet portal accessible via moneto.me.”

Package Tracking updated to version 2.4.5

The excellent free Android  Package Tracking software was recently updated to version 2.4.5. The update includes a user interface overhaul, the ability to email tracking results from the application and a host of minor bug fixes.

The complete change log is below: 

Version 2.4.5 Changes – December 15th, 2011:

  • Minor bug-fixes affecting some users.
  • New feature: Email tracking results from application.
  • Re-created carrier icons so they are more uniform.

There are thousands of apps in the marketplace and one area that is literally brimming with options is photography and digital imaging. It doesn’t matter if you prefer the Android operating system or would rather employ the Apple iOS to get your image editing chores done; there is plenty of options to choose from.

CobraTag your items with a trackable Bluetooth tag

A Cobra Tag is a compact rechargeable bluetooth sensor approximately 2.5”L x 1”W x .5”D that pairs with your smartphone to prevent you from losing keys, purse, computer bag, or any other item you want to protect from loss. The sensor communicates with an app currently available for Android and Blackberry that will remind you with an audible alarm if you leave your phone or other item behind.

The Cobra Tag also acts like a two-way finder, tap the button on your Cobra Tag to ring your phone or conversely use the phone app to make the tag ring to help locate your other items.

Game Insight’s My Country maintains top position in App Store

Game Insight, one of the world’s leaders in mobile and social games making, announced today that their iPad version of the game “My Country” has maintained the #1 position in Top Grossing Games apps for iPad and earned over $300,000 during the first two and a half weeks of being live in the AppStore. “My Country” has repeated the success for its Android twin-sister, which has also kept top position in the Top Grossing list for over 2 months.

With “My Country”, Game Insight continues to dominate the free-to-play mobile games market by reaching #1 position once more on the top grossing app chart. Though “My Country” had to compete for its place as #1 against other popular games for iPad, the top was achieved by earning over $300,000 during the first two and a half weeks of being live.

Apple iTunes 10.5 available now, iOS 5 tomorrow

Apple released iTunes 10.5 today in advance of the iOS 5 release that is slated for tomorrow. New in iTunes, are cloud services that wirelessly push purchases made on one device to all your other devices.

It also enables you to view your previous purchase history and download any past song, TV show, app or book from the App store or the iTunes store. Alternatively if you don’t want to automatically download everything you buy to every device, you can selectively choose just the things you want to download to each device.

According to a recent comScore report iOS drives more web traffic despite smaller installed base.

Although the Android Platform has the largest OS market share by installed base, 43.7 percent in August. The iOS platform had the highest share of mobile connected devices 43.1 percent compared to Androids 34.1 percent.

The difference is largely attributed to the iPads dominance in the tablet market.

“The iOS platform also accounts for the largest share of Internet traffic, measured in terms of browser-based page views, in the U.S. at present. When measuring market share of Internet traffic by platform, iOS accounted for more than half (58.5 percent) of the share of total non-computer traffic in the U.S.
