I’ve been combing the web looking for an application that turns social media and news feeds into an easy to digest magazine format for Android since the introduction of Flipboard for iOS. Flipboard is one of the first applications I launch when I grab the iPad. It turns RSS feeds and social media streams into something that is pleasant to look at and easy to read.
Not that there are not some good news readers for Android, Pulse and Taptu come to mind, but for me nothing on Android approximates the reading experience with feeds that Flipboard provides. Flipboard was named 2010 Apple “App of the Year”. It’s been rumored that Android is on Flipboards distant radar but its current focus remains fixed on iOS. Besides the current iPad app, the company is reportedly working on an iPhone version as well.
Last month rumors about ‘Propeller’, Google’s social news/sharing app for Android and iOS were leaked on the web.
