With Mobile World Congress (MWC) rapidly approaching phone leaks abound, MWC is the perfect stage for companies to unveil their products. According to the latest unsubstantiated rumors the iPhone 5 is slightly taller and wider than the 4 and 4S. The front facing camera is also higher resolution on the iPhone 5.

Is Apple looking to shape-up the front facing camera game on smartphones? If these rumors are true, we are on the edge of our seats awaiting further details about the iPhone 5.

If you head on over to Nokia’s Facebook page you will see a contest to win a white Nokia Lumia 800. The game is simple, upon opening the page, you will have 60 seconds to catch a white tile by clicking on it. After catching the tile a score will be displayed and you will be asked to enter your info for a chance to win.

Verizon for Valentines day? “Samsung’d” again!

Starting February 13th through the 14th, Verizon is allowing users to tweet their most creative confessions with the hashtag #TweetHeart in order to win a free colored Droid RAZR. If you don’t like purple, simply give it to that special someone of yours. Until then, be on the lookout for the contest on Verizon Wireless’s official Twitter page.

PS. your partner may still like a romantic date even if you win the free phone.

For those who happened to miss the Samsung Galaxy Note Superbowl ad, the ad is simple no longer shall customers have to wait in long lines in order to buy a subpar phone such as iPhone, instead the Samsung Galaxy Note shall be your savior. It was a quirky and funny commercial, some may say it was a tad over the top, but the stage it was premiered on, sometimes over the top is better.

Tagg GPS tracking for your Pets

Tagg is a pet tracking system developed by Snaptracs Inc., a Qualcomm company that uses GPS technology to help you locate your pet if it becomes lost or stolen. The lightweight GPS Tag attaches to the pets collar with a two piece clip and its waterproof design allows it to be worn at all times.

The Tagg system appearsto be simple to set-up, first set-up an account at www.pettracker.com , once you receive the Tagg pet tracker activate it, it will be associated with your online account, then setup your Tagg zone.

On January 20th, Greenpois0n released their tool to jailbreak (unlock) the iPhone 4S or iPad 2. The jailbreak will support iOS 5.0 and iOS 5.0.1 according to Greenpois0n, however the tools were only available for the Mac. The Greenpois0n team has now released the Windows version, which can be found by following this link.

Whited00r , a well known iOS community modding site has come forth with a way to get some features of iOS 5.0 on your older generation iPhones and iPods. For those who have an iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, and iPod Touch and are interested in basking in the glory of i0S 5.0, Whited00r has your back. Temple Run to land on Android, Instagram coming to WP7? Samsung will perform live magic show to highlight RAZR MAXX battery life

The hit iOS game, Temple Run will be making its way to Android this year, says creator, Imangi Studios. The game developers took to their Facebook page  posting a simple status saying, “On a (Samsung) Galaxy not-so-far away. Temple Run Android coming February 2012. We’re so excited to announce this and appreciate all of our fans’ support across both platforms!” The post has accumulated over 1,000 comments and over 6,000 likes showing that Android users are more then ready for Temple Run to make the jump. Temple Run will be debuting in the Android market in February. Now all we need is for Instagram to reveal a set date to join the Android Market and we will be set for the year.

Bil Simser has been working on an unofficial  Instagram program for Windows Phone, titled Metrogram. If you do not know, Instagram is a popular photo app exclusively for the iOS (iPhone, iPod, iPad, etc) that allows you to take pictures and add filters to them. You can then share them with your Instagram followers as well as upload them to Twitter or Facebook. It is unknown if Instagram will accept the development of the Windows Phone app as Bil Simser’s Metrogram program is an unofficial version of the original Instagram application.

Don’t fear the H2O, HzO introduces cutting-edge ‘WaterBlock’ technology at CES

HZO introduced a new waterproofing technique called ‘WaterBlock’ for electronic devices at CES that applies a micro-thin coating applied by OEMs during the manufacturing process that protects electronics on a molecular level.

Rather than create a waterproof case, HzO opens up the devices and waterproofs the internal components. The device can be completely submerged and even fill up with water and continue to work.

WaterBlock is a non-toxic, inert, organic nanotechnology coating that protects electronic devices from moisture and water damage according to HzO.

Moneto prepaid NFC mobile wallet service compatible with Android and iPhone

Yesterday DeviceFidelity, Inc and Spring Card Systems LLC, announced Moneto a prepaid mobile wallet service utilizing Near Field Communications (NFC) in conjunction with MasterCard PayPass technology.

The innovative service enables NFC on previously incompatible smartphones by utilizing a custom Moneto microSD card for Android and a custom case for iPhone.

According to its press release “Users can fund their Moneto prepaid account through direct deposit, ACH transfer or cash/credit/debit card-enabled third-party money transfer services such as MoneyGram, Western Union, PayPal or GreenDot.

Moneto also comes with a companion prepaid MasterCard to give users the ability to access cash at ATMs and make online purchases, pay bills or shop at merchants that do not accept contactless payments. Moneto also enables card-to-card and wire-fund transfers from a secure internet portal accessible via moneto.me.”

iTunes, like so many other great parts of our digital world, has things we love about it and things we hate about it. Sometimes the things we love, we also hate. Here’s my list of things I love and hate about iTunes.

  1. Love: It’s easy to buy songs – Your credit card or your iTunes gift card are attached to your account, so that all you have to do to purchase songs is click ‘Download’ and it transfers the song to your computer or your iPhone instantly. It’s wonderful!
  2. Hate: Too easy to buy songs – The other side of that story is the fact that it is so easy to do download songs that you do it more often than you would if you were purchasing at a store. It is so easy, that you don’t put as much thought into it and probably buy a lot of music that you wouldn’t have otherwise. Continue reading

App Lock : A simple, easy to use, feature rich app protector for Android

App Lock is an app protector application developed by Creative Core that lets you selectively password protect apps and personal data stored on a Android smartphone.

There is allot to like about this free ad-supported app. App Lock is elegant in its simplicity, the intuitive UI makes working with this application a pleasure. The program opens to the enter passcode screen, you enter the provided initial passcode 8888 and then follow the prompts in the settings menu to customize the settings.

From the passcode settings you can:

  • Enable/disable App Lock
  • Edit your 4 digit passcode
  • Mask the passcode when editing
  • Email the passcode to yourself in case you forget it
  • Set a password hit for yourself
  • Set a password recovery challenge question
