On January 20th, Greenpois0n released their tool to jailbreak (unlock) the iPhone 4S or iPad 2. The jailbreak will support iOS 5.0 and iOS 5.0.1 according to Greenpois0n, however the tools were only available for the Mac. The Greenpois0n team has now released the Windows version, which can be found by following this link.

Whited00r , a well known iOS community modding site has come forth with a way to get some features of iOS 5.0 on your older generation iPhones and iPods. For those who have an iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, and iPod Touch and are interested in basking in the glory of i0S 5.0, Whited00r has your back. Apple iTunes 10.5 available now, iOS 5 tomorrow

Apple released iTunes 10.5 today in advance of the iOS 5 release that is slated for tomorrow. New in iTunes, are cloud services that wirelessly push purchases made on one device to all your other devices.

It also enables you to view your previous purchase history and download any past song, TV show, app or book from the App store or the iTunes store. Alternatively if you don’t want to automatically download everything you buy to every device, you can selectively choose just the things you want to download to each device.

Apple has announced that iCloud, a breakthrough set of free cloud services, including iTunes in the Cloud, Photo Stream and Documents in the Cloud, that work seamlessly with your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac or PC to automatically and wirelessly store your content in iCloud and push it to all your devices, will be available on October 12.

iCloud stores your music, photos, apps, contacts, calendars, documents and more, keeping them up to date across all your devices. When content changes on one device, all your other devices are updated automatically and wirelessly.

Apple’s App Store downloads top 15 billion

Apple recently announced that over 15 billion apps have been downloaded from its App Store by the more than 200 million iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users worldwide. The App Store offers more than 425,000 apps and developers have created an incredible array of over 100,000 native iPad apps.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs in conjunction with other top Apple executives will lead off the company’s WWDC with a keynote on Monday, June 6 at 10 a.m. The keynote will spotlight several important product announcements including Mac OS Lion, iOS5 for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch as well as iCloud, Apple’s entry into the streaming cloud music service which will compete with Amazons Cloud Player and Google Music.

Number Guru: Free Caller ID and reverse number lookup for Android and iOS. Available for Blackberry soon

My latest find I wanted to share is a free Caller ID and Reverse phone number look-up app called Number Guru. In my testing the program worked well giving me the name, city and phone company of the caller while the caller id on the handset showed no information.

Can Apple overtake Visa and Mastercard?

While the latter upgrades will be nice, I think the true potential lies in NFC. The official Android redbox app is now available in the Android Market. The redbox app lets you browse and reserve movies, plus find the nearest redbox kiosk with maps from wherever you are. You can see what movies are available, including specific movies at selected kiosks. That way, you will know what is available where at any given time.
