TECH the HALLS

Electronics gifts don’t have to be budget-busters

by George Heymann

Technology-Headlines

Despite the downturn in the economy, early polling indicates that a majority of consumers — 52 percent — plan to spend the same or more for gifts this holiday season, according to a recent ICM Research report.

Last year, nearly a third of U.S. consumers’ holiday gift-spending budget went to consumer electronics.

‘Cribs Note’ version “Personal Jesus,” Depeche Mode

What some took to be a blasphemous stab at the King of Kings was actually inspired by a biography of The King. DM songwriter Martin Gore came across by Priscilla Presley’s book “Elvis And Me,” learning that Priscilla saw her husband as, that’s right, a personal Jesus.

More long-lost forgotten songs

by Jon Pompia

This continues a list of the best songs you’ve maybe never heard, or haven’t in ages, but definitely should track down.
“Alone Again (Naturally),” Gilbert O’Sullivan. Widely regarded as one of the saddest songs of all time, this 1973 gem also is one of the most enduring.
Even as a child, I could vividly feel this man’s pain dripping off that exquisite melody. And once my own parents passed away, I couldn’t bear to listen to “AAN” for many years.
That, in a nutshell, is the true power of a song.

More long-lost forgotten songs

This continues a list of the best songs you’ve (likely) never heard, or haven’t in ages, but definitely should track down.

by Jon Pompia

This continues a list of the best songs you’ve (likely) never heard, or haven’t in ages. Although amazingly badass, these songs remain criminally underappreciated, due to many factors which I cannot fully explain (effects of time, lack of promotion, dearth of today’s crappy music , etc.
