Sandisks answer to the lightweight storage for mobile devices comes in the form of an integrated solid state drive (iSSD). Sandisk claims the drive delivers all the benefits of SSD in a new tiny form factor (16mm x 20mm x1.97mm) roughly the size of a postage stamp. The iSSD will be easy to embed into mobile devices that value smaller designs, quiet operation and lower power consumption.
The iSSD will have an industry standard SATA interface provide between 4GB up to 64GB of storage. Price and availability information have not been released.
