Steve Jobs: in remembrance of things futuristic

By all accounts Steve Jobs was one of those rare people who saw the future. He somehow knew what the future held for people, especially when it came to technology.

Many – including President Barack Obama – have called him a “visionary” in their tributes after learning of his death last night night at the age of 56 after many years of suffering from pancreatic cancer.

“By building one of the planet’s most successful companies from his garage, he exemplified the spirit of American ingenuity,” said the President.

Opinion: What does Steve Jobs resignation mean?

As we know from a short letter addressed to the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community yesterday, Steve Jobs resigned as CEO of Apple. As per Steve’s recommendation, the Apple board appointed COO Tim Cook as CEO.

Considering that Cook filled in for Jobs during previous medical leaves including the one this year, the move to appoint Cook as successor wasn’t unexpected. As requested, Apple also elected Jobs as Chairman of the Board and will remain with Apple in that capacity, effective immediately. Cook will also join the Board.

Apple to unveil iCloud streaming music service as well as Mac OSX Lion and iOS 5 at the company’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), June 6

Apple CEO Steve Jobs in conjunction with other top Apple executives will lead off the company’s WWDC with a keynote on Monday, June 6 at 10 a.m. The keynote will spotlight several important product announcements including Mac OS Lion, iOS5 for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch as well as iCloud, Apple’s entry into the streaming cloud music service which will compete with Amazons Cloud Player and Google Music.

Consumer Reports announces it cannot recommend the iPhone 4!

Consumer Reports announced that it cannot recommend the iPhone 4 until Apple fixes the design flaw in the  antenna system. CR goes on to say “Our findings call into question the recent claim by Apple that the iPhone 4’s signal-strength issues were largely an illusion caused by faulty software that mistakenly displays 2 or more bars than it should for a given signal strength.” The tests also indicate that AT&T’s network might not be the primary cause of the iPhone 4’s reported signal  problems.  You can see Consumer Reports Video here.
